Day 01: Your Favorite Jdrama :
Tadah!! That would be Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge
Yes! I decided a few years ago, that even though I love almost all of the Japanese dramas I've seen, this live action adaptation of a quirky anime is my favorite. Well. Aside from the cool cast, I really loved the anime of the same title to the point where even if its played a million times on a local TV channel, I still watch it.
SInce I'm lazy to create my own Synopsis.. Ill just quote the one printed in Wikipedia
Blessed with good looks, Takano Kyohei, a college student, is always
suffering from the unreasonable behaviour of customers who want him and
the sexual harassment of his store manager. Because of his hot temper,
he loses his head on this occasion and is fired from his part-time job.
Then one day, the glamorous owner, Ms Nakahara proposes, "I'll give you
free board-and-lodging if you can turn my niece, Sunako, into a lady!"
Kyohei and Toyama Yukinojo, Oda Takenaga and Morii Ranmaru, the other
guys living together in the same boarding house, are enthusiastic, but
the person who appears before the four of them is a spooky girl whose
hair covers her face and who loves horror and vampires. And so, their

I could think of a few other reasons why I love this drama. The story itself when presented as an anime, is very entertaining yet exaggerated. Sunako surrounded by four amazing, gorgeous and appealing guys, is an example. I mean who is THAT lucky? hehe.. But when I see Sunako spout massive falls of nosebleed, I would say, Oh well, thats understandable!. Still who would have that much blood?
The live action is different, it has the same story line, same characters, same humor, same quirks and weirdness, but they somehow made it realistic. Sunako doesn't have nosebleeds, she just faints. She still loves the dark and loves skulls, Josephine, her skeleton, Akira and of course Hiroshi ^^. But this time I find it normal and in fact in some cases true, that most girls would have complexes about their looks. Kyohei does have fans, and attracts a huge crowd of girls but is shown to have no understanding of feelings such as love and care.
Im blabbering, so let me think of another,, hmm the cast..
When I saw the news that Kamenashi Kazuya will play Kyohei, I really waited for it to air, thus every week I wait for the fresh episode, watch the raw version, then later the next day Ill see it again with English subtitles. This is the first drama that Ive seen where I was as updated with the Japanese people. (You know the rest are already completed and streamed online) Kame, became my favorite actor after I saw him cry in Gokusen and also on this drama.
I love everyone too. The addition of the little boy as Sunako's cousin, Aya, who plays as Sunako is very adorable and she can deliver those kicks and fight scenes well. Tego is perfect as Yuki, seeing that he is cute, looks good in a girls dress and is someone who can melt your heart and brings out your maternal instincts. Haha. Uchi, as Takenaga, make me want to study Ikebana myself.
Miyao, who plays as Ranmaru is a ballerino, thats like WHOAH
which is why I find that his movements are so graceful
